Our visiting lecturer of the month was Rev. Dumle Namene a specialist on HIV cases. We discussed the key drivers of HIV.
- The policemen were cited as one of the key drivers of HIV prevalence due to their multiple sexual partners.
- Our old women were also noted as one of the key drivers of HIV because they share razor blades in cutting their nails mostly at burial occasions where they may stay for two weeks, sometimes, according to our tradition.
- Not only that, widows of HIV victims also contribute to the high number of HIV patients because they may unknowingly spread the disease since many men might meet with them for sex.
- Another key driver of HIV are prostitutes because in our communities today they render sex without any correct and consistent use of condom.
